Committees and topics

This year we have chosen 6 specialised committees to debate and resolve different aspects of current affairs. These are the 6 committees and the topics you will be discussing:

Security Council (SC): Preventing the rise of dictatorial/authoritarian regimes that suppose a threat to international security and/or their own citizens. Ensuring that crimes against humanity and war crimes are not committed during armed conflicts.

World Health Organization (WHO): Establishing guidelines to decrease the use of general antibiotics to reduce bacterial resistance. Providing guidelines for vaccine patenting to ensure vaccine distribution to all countries.

UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC): Measures to accomplish the agreements established in the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26)

UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): Measures to protect displaced people and secure their integration in their country of asylum, with a focus on the emergency situation in Afghanistan.Improving the design of refugee camps, sites or settlements in order to keep people safe and give them proper shelter.

Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR): Ensuring that women’s rights are respected and protected, focussing on equal work culture and elimination of violence in all its forms.

Disarmament and  International Security (DISEC): Measures to eradicate illegal arms trade.Limiting and stopping unsanctioned and unnecessary involvement of countries in foreign conflicts.
